Parish School of Religion

Our Parish School of Religion (PSR) education program serves children, three years of age through eighth grade, each Sunday from mid-September through April.  PSR class times are 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for our Pre-K classes (we offer one class for 3 year olds and another class for 4 and 5 year olds), and from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. for our Kindergarten through junior high classes (7th and 8th grades are combined into one class).

PSR is not a replacement of mass for children of school age; rather, it is a supplement to the religious education received at home, especially in instances where children attend public (rather than parochial) school.   Because we do not currently have a nursery available, parents of pre-school children age three to five may wish to consider enrolling these children in PSR even if the parents eventually plan to enroll these children at St. Francis School when the children reach kindergarten.  This provides parents the option of dropping their pre-school children at PSR while they attend the 10 a.m. mass.  The children can then receive religious instruction in a format appropriate to their age, parents will be able to focus their entire attention on the mass, and the cry rooms will be more available for children under the age of three.

Volunteer catechists, aides, and hall monitors are needed for our PSR program; no previous experience is necessary; we will provide you with all the materials and guidance you need to be successful.
