“Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them.”
This passage in Matthew’s Gospel helps us to understand the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, which are the observable behaviors of people who have allowed the grace of the Holy Spirit to be effective in them.
The tradition of the Church lists 12 fruits:
The 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit drives our purpose, reminds us of our expectations and guides us in all that we do.
This year we will focus on Peace, Patience, Chasity, and Generosity.
With all that is occurring in our world today that is truly scary for young people, we must search for simple terms and descriptions to portray what is truly good, what God truly wants for all people. We focus on these Fruits to guide us and to represent who we are.
