The SFDS Music Ministry enhances the liturgical celebrations by leading the music at masses through hymns and songs that will ensure the “full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgical celebration” (Sacrosanctum Concilium, 14). The whole church community benefits from participating in the Eucharist through prayerful music.

Please join our various ensembles! Matt Munhall, Director of Music and Liturgy, is excited to meet with you to discuss your talents and interest.
There are volunteer opportunities for:
- Singers–both choral and praise and worship music. This ministry is made up of parishioners with all levels of ability. Some have years of private lessons and experience, and some are learning about music for the first time.
- Instrumentalists—including percussion, strings, woodwinds, brass, guitar and bass players who have experience reading music or playing by ear proficiently in group settings.
- Technologists—to be responsible for sound and recording on a weekly basis and even live video at various times throughout the year. Minimal experience with electronics and computers is requested. Training will be provided. See AV Tech Team for more details.
The Parish Choir is open to singers of high school age and up. We sing for the 8:30 a.m. Sunday Mass during the academic year, and for other Mass times as scheduled, in addition to feast days and special choral events. See Matt Munhall or Mike Blowers for rehearsal times.
The 4:45pm Saturday Ensemble plays a blend of contemporary with praise and worship music and we are currently looking for more instrumentalists and singers. Any age is welcome. Intermediate proficiency requested. Drums, guitar, violin, flute, other instruments and harmony singers are welcome.
The 8:30 am Sunday Mass plays traditional music and is led by our beautiful Austin organ and parish choir led by Matt Munhall or Mike Blowers.
The 11am Sunday Mass Worship Group plays mostly praise and worship music, and modern interpretations of ancient and contemporary songs. Any age is welcome. Intermediate proficiency requested Drums, guitar, violin, flute, other instruments and harmony singers are welcome.
Every Thursday and Friday we have school mass where children are welcome to participate in leading the music during Mass.
