Natural Family Planning (NFP) is an umbrella term for those methods of family planning that are based in fertility education. For avoiding conception, the use of NFP means periodic sexual abstinence. NFP methods call for husband and wife to learn, understand, and apply the information in their conjugal life. NFP methods are the only methods of family planning that support the married couple’s relationship and the child who may come from them. NFP is:
- 100% natural - uses no synthetic hormones
- Safe - uses no drugs, devices or surgical procedures that can harm the body or future fertility
- Effective-up to 99% effective to postpone pregnancy and can also help to achieve pregnancy
- Mutual-The responsibility for NFP encourages a couples’ communication, trust, and respect for each other. The better communication and closer relationships formed through NFP have been found to reduce the rate of divorce.
- Moral-It respects God’s natural design of the marital embrace as an expression of love and openness to life.
Fertility Education & Medical Management (FEMM) is a comprehensive women’s health program that uses charting for monitoring health and for family planning:
- Teaches women to understand their bodies and how to recognize hormonal and other vital signs of health.
- Provides women with support through its free FEMM Health App to help women track their health and reproductive goals.
- Provides accurate medical testing and treatment based on new research and medical protocols.
